Koya Webb is an outgoing optimistic person who believes balance is the key to a successful life. “I think everyone should have a strong and healthy mind, body, and soul. My gift is performing and teaching. I want to live a life that is healthy, happy, and productive. I also want to teach others how to achieve this balance.” As a certified personal trainer and life coach, Koya spends her days helping people reach their goals. “It takes a lifestyle change.” She is creating a better lifestyle for her clients by providing exercise prescriptions, healthy diets, professional assistance, and advice. Koya has a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science with a minor in Business Administration. “I’ve always wanted my own full-service spa, now that I have the education, my business plan is in the works” She admits it might take a while and she wants to explore other areas of interest before breaking into the business. “Track and Field has been part of my life for the past 9 years and I just feel like I haven’t reached my potential in a lot of areas. I remember my first high school coach telling me I would never run the hurdles and I ended up competing at the state level. I remember gaining 20 (okay 25) pounds my freshman year in college and jumping 6 inches lower than I did in high school. Those where the times I wanted to stop but something in me had a desire to prove I could do what ever I put my mind to.” Well, Koya’s determination sent her to college on a full scholarship and after strengthening and leaning her frame she captured several Missouri Valley Conference Championships. “College was a lot of hard work, but every ounce of it paid off.” She ranked 9th nationally in the pentathlon and 13th in the heptathlon. “The key for me was believing in myself, at times when I felt like no one else did.”
Koya admits after taking a year off, to find her purpose in life and establishing her business she is ready for the “big” challenge. “I am now training for the 2008 Olympics and I feel myself getting stronger and wiser everyday. Now, I have coaches who believe in me and are willing to be by my side the entire race. Life is great!”
